Submissions to Perform at The Festival
Please submit your application for the festival by sending a link to your Electronic Press Kit (SonicBids, Website, MySpace, etc) to artistic@nlfbsudbury.com. In the interest of saving paper and costs to the artist please do not send in a paper and CD submission package. If asked to perform at the festival, the artist will then be required to send in a recording. Local artists should read about the 2008 Meltdown.
The Tradition continues
on the Shores of Ramsey Lake
What could be more relaxing than a weekend in the park, listening to music that touches your soul, and enjoying good food and drink with family and friends. Children laugh and the stars shine overhead. A brief rain shower doesn’t dampen the spirits, but under the umbrella, it brings everyone a little closer together. After the final encore, the feeling is unanimous: “That was the best time ever”.
Since 1972 NLFB has happened each summer on the shores of Ramsey Lake in Downtown Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Three days of music, art, workshops and fun represent the wide array of cultures in our community. We are pleased to present popular music artists as well as a huge selection of Roots, Traditional, Modern Indie, World, Americana and more... Volunteering
Over 300 volunteers help put on the Festival each summer. However, NLFB is a year-round organization and we need dedicated people to help with all aspects of our off-season planning and events.
Some of our needs include: telephoning a short list of people to notify them of each House Concert, helping with Arts Education, general office help, etc.
There are also a variety of committees who really need your help. Or you could just help out around the office by answering phones, etc.? Please call the NLFB office at 705.674.5512 and leave a message, or email Sandra Harris, and we will be in touch!!
House Concerts
Try to imagine: Having your favourite musicians playing in your living room for you and 20 to 40 of your best friends... That's what the NLFB House Concerts are all about!
Typically, House Concerts are arranged for performers who are passing through Sudbury with no pre-arranged gigs. Concerts are held in private houses, the performers billeted at the home, and promotion done by word-of-mouth through members and friends. A hat is passed at the concert with all proceeds going to the performers - typically a suggested minimum of $8 or $10.
You should confirm your attendance in advance by calling the Northern Lights office at 674-5512 (leave a message if no-one answers - we will only call back if the concert is full) or by sending us an e-mail. Confirmations are on a first-come, first-served basis.
